Gateway Pet Guardians
Back on Valentine’s Day my little family adopted a kitten. Her name is Miss Katniss Cookie Smith (can you tell what my 4 year old wanted to name her?) haha! She is a great addition to our family and I can honestly say that she has stolen all our hearts. My boys are so in love with her, my husband calls her his baby, and she is my little kitty bestie while working from home all day. She takes naps on my art cart and plays in shipping boxes which makes my office her favorite room in the house.
So in honor of Katniss this month I have decided to donate to Gateway Pet Guardians. Gateway Pet Guardians is a Saint Louis based animal shelter who rescues animals (mainly dogs and cats) from the streets of East St. Louis and surrounding areas. Their mission is to end homelessness for animals in our area. Not only do they rescue animals and provide them with life-saving medical care, but they also partner with TADSAW (Train A Dog, Save a Warrior) to unite rescued dogs with veterans suffering from post traumatic stress disorder and have community outreach programs that provide low cost spay and neuter, vaccinations, and microchipping. Through the community outreach Gateway Pet Guardians also provide help pet owners in low income areas provide adequate food and shelter for their pets during the extreme heat and cold.
All of these amazing programs cost money so this month I pledge to donate 10% of shop profits to their cause. Here are some of the pets you could help with a purchase this month. Click on their picture to learn more about them.
As a proud homebody who is also on a budget these days, I’ve learned how to do major self care while staying at home and also being kind to my bank account. There are so many ways you can carve out time, space, and a cozy mood for yourself all while in the comforts of home. Use what you already have on hand or purchase a few simple and budget friendly supplies.
