A New Beginning

A New Beginning: Hello World Paper Co. is now The Homebody Society

The Homebody Society

a cozy corner for every homebody

Hello World Paper Co. is now The Homebody Society!  I know, I know, it’s a big change for me too, but it’s been a long time coming.

When I started over 10 years ago selling hand-stamped cards on the side as a third-grade teacher, I never imagined in my wildest dreams that I’d end up here.  Seriously, if you would have told me that people would be buying my hand-drawn work I would have literally laughed so hard I probably would have snorted or worse!  This was never the plan, but life is funny like that. We think we have it all planned out and life decides you are needed somewhere else doing something really scary, really hard, but really cool.  I am grateful.

Why The Homebody Society?

I’ve been itching for a rebrand and name change for about three years now.  I wanted something that reflected my personality, values, and interests. Hello World Paper Co. was good to me, but it wasn’t who I really was.  When I started this business I started in weddings and I thought I had to have a certain image - blush, gold, calligraphy, shabby chic - you know, all the things.  Guys, that’s not me.

I own one pair of wedges and I live in sweatshirts and jeans (ahem leggings), usually with no makeup on.  I’m not fancy, nor do I strive to be. My family brings me the most joy in my life and staying in to watch a movie under a cozy blanket, play board games, or read a book is literally my favorite.  I don’t mind if plans get canceled, I covet silence, I’m a terrible traveler, and my back porch holds magical properties of rejuvenation. I am thankful for what I have and where I am, but I also struggle with anxiety, depression, and a chronic illness which is why I work from home.  I love my little house full of love and I am a true homebody in every sense of the word.

I’m a regular person living an extraordinary life that I love and struggle with on a daily basis and I know that there are people out in the world that feel the same so I wanted a cozy corner of the internet where homebodies, like me, could find products, articles, and a community that speaks to them.  I made this brand for you so you don’t feel alone anymore.

I also believe that having connections with family, friends, and strangers makes us stronger, allows us to laugh, and brings us comfort in times of struggle and sorrow.  We need these personal relationships to thrive, but choosing those relationships based on how they make us feel is key to a happy life. I am selective about who I let in, so if you are reading this, welcome.  You are now a part of The Homebody Society and I cannot wait to get to know you better!

P.S. A big thank you goes out to Susannah Carpenter of Hello Ginger Creative for helping me bring The Homebody Society vision to life! I could not have done it without her patience, understanding, and her literal ability to read my mind! She’s a wizard, she is!! I will be talking more about the overhaul on this blog and on my podcast Creative Biz Rebellion in the coming months. Stay tuned!
